Video Projection as a Production Element for Film & Video

Ace Video has been projecting video and various computer generated images (still & motion) as a production element for film & video for the last 15 years. These productions have been recorded onto Betacam SP, Digibeta, HD Video, and 16 & 35 mm film. These projects have parts of industrials, TV series, promos, music videos, effects segments and commercials.  We have also projected on people, objects, buildings, and many types of surfaces under a wide variety of conditions.

Normal method:

Usually we rear project on large rear projection surfaces ranging from

9x12 ft, 12x18 ft, to 15x20ft and we construct a shadow box behind the screen to minimize incidental light. Under certain conditions, we can also front project.

Alternative High Gain (High Reflectance) Projection Surfaces:

Under certain conditions, we also can front & rear project on special plastic surface which  has very high reflectance characteristics.

A Wide Range of Projector Options:

Typical projectors utilized depending on image size, etc. range from 3,600 to 20,000 lumens with variable stored presets and variable color temperatures (3,000 to 7,000 degrees Kelvin). We sometimes double stack projectors to get the widest range of luminance.

Possible Signal Sources:

Typical video sources include video & computer generated or altered imagery (still & motion) from composite video, S-Video, Component, SDI, S-VGA, DVI, etc.  In terms of ideal resolution, we prefer to have source material supplied that matches the native resolution of the projector, so check with us in advance.

Preferred Setting:

A large sound stage is the ideal environment for this type of production.
